The university received its National Accreditation Board approval in September 2013.

The LUG campus allows students across Africa to access Lancaster’s academic excellence in teaching and research on the African continent.  The students are taught by local and Lancaster academic staff.

Students currently studying at the campus in Ghana, have a range of undergraduate courses in business and management, international relations, computer science, law and psychology. The university also offers Lancaster’s highly acclaimed, triply accredited Global MBA programme in Ghana along with a Masters in International Relations.

Mr. Wahi mentioned that the Ghana campus is the group’s first education venture in West Africa and shared the vision of “creating a network of branch campus experiences in Africa, through quality teaching, state of the art infrastructure, research led curriculum and innovation in delivery of the curriculum”.

Professor Grainger said that “Lancaster University Ghana is committed to providing quality programmes to ensure that Ghanaians as well as Africans have access to world-class tertiary education, without having to travel abroad.”

He added that “the students in Ghana have excellent support in the form of access to Lancaster’s extensive library databases along with senior academic delegation visits from Lancaster University UK’s various faculties, senior administration, registrar, and student union.”

Mr. Lal mentioned that “The campus has now grown to over 200 students studying across seven disciplines.”

Mr. Lal also mentioned that students had the opportunity to travel to Lancaster’s home campus in the United Kingdom for a cultural exchange programme in the summer and the Ghana campus hosted two delegations of students from Lancaster University this year itself.

“The Ghana campus is currently looking at its expansion plans in Accra and continues to focus on supporting students through its student life activities and career and employability centre,” said Mr. Lal.
