Kofi J. Bucknor (Founder, J.Kofi Bucknor and Associates Ltd) delivered a masterclass to the Lancaster Executive MBA students with the aim of giving them a practical insight into the Strategic Management module.

This module focuses on how to take a strategic and holistic perspective when diagnosing problems, planning and leading within organisations, and explores how globalisation and other external environmental forces impact on the strategic options open to organisations. 
 
During the session on “Strategic challenges facing businesses in Ghana”, Kofi Bucknor mentioned that macro-economic problems in the Ghana makes it difficult for businesses to plan strategically. “Strategic thinking is the one tool that you really need to succeed in business. Focus on what you can control and plan under different scenarios, most importantly have a clear sense of personal vision and values” he added.
 
Kofi J. Bucknor currently serves on the boards of New York Stock Exchange listed Newmont Mining Corporation, the world’s second largest gold producer, Kingdom Hotels Limited, Ghana, SAHAM Assurances, Morocco, ARM, Nigeria, Consolidated Infrastructure Group, South Africa Baker Hughes Ghana and Newmont Ghana Gold.
 
He has been an adviser since 1997 to billionaire investor HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, Saudi Arabia.
 
Kofi has been a Director of Ashanti Goldfields Corporation, Pep Stores Ghana, Normandy Mining Corporation of Australia, National Investment Bank, Ghana and Ecobank Transnational Corporation. He was a member of the Commonwealth Secretary General’s Special Advisory Panel on the 1996 Asian Financial Crisis. Kofi has also been Chairman of the Ghana Stock Exchange, a Director of T.A. Holdings Limited in Zimbabwe, Chairman of the Council of the University College of Education, Winneba, and a Director of Letshego Botswana.
